Outworld Destroyer vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Struggling to convert a farm advantage into clean kills is a common problem for Outworld Destroyer in this matchup. A single Nether Swap from Vengeful Spirit can completely ruin his initiation, saving his target and leaving OD stranded, often deep in enemy territory. This forces him to reconsider his approach even during his Black King Bar timing. Before he gets that immunity, Vengeful Spirit also provides a reliable stun with Magic Missile, which can be enough to stop him from getting a kill on a gank or in a chaotic early fight.

This dynamic means Outworld Destroyer has to be much more careful with his positioning and target priority. He can't simply run at the most appealing hero; he has to account for Venge's location and whether her swap is available. This often forces him to try and kill Venge first, which can be difficult, or to bait out the spell. For the Vengeful Spirit player, the game becomes about shadowing whichever teammate OD wants to target most, ready to turn his aggression against him. It's a specific problem OD has to solve, but not an insurmountable one.
