Ogre Magi vs Omniknight

How this matchup plays

Picking a save support into Ogre Magi's lockdown means you have to consider the type of damage and disables involved. Omniknight's kit lines up a bit awkwardly here. His ultimate, Guardian Angel, provides immunity to physical damage, which is completely irrelevant against Ogre Magi's all-magic arsenal of Ignite and Fireblast. While Heavenly Grace provides a strong dispel to remove Ogre's spells from an ally, it's a single-target save on a cooldown. Ogre's entire plan revolves around Multicast, and a lucky chain of stuns can easily overwhelm the protection from a single dispel, even with the bonus status resistance it grants.

Throughout the game, this creates a reactive problem for the Omniknight player. In lane, Ogre can repeatedly harass with Ignite, forcing out the long-cooldown Heavenly Grace and then playing aggressively until it's available again. In teamfights, Ogre is looking to chain-stun a key target. Omniknight has to hold his dispel for the perfect moment, but Ogre can often just switch targets or simply overwhelm the status resistance with another proc from Multicast. It puts Ogre Magi in a more proactive position, forcing Omniknight to play perfectly to get full value from his saves.
