Ogre Magi vs Phoenix

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to which hero can better enable their cores. Phoenix can be difficult for Ogre Magi to pin down, as Icarus Dive provides an easy escape from gank attempts. Ogre wants to get close to land his stuns and Ignite, but Phoenix can usually fly to safety before that happens. If a fight does break out, Phoenix can cripple Ogre's contribution with Fire Spirits. The attack speed slow is a major problem, making it very hard for the naturally tanky Ogre to right-click down a Supernova egg, even if he survives to try.

Later on, teamfights depend heavily on positioning and initiation. An Ogre Magi who finds a good opening can lock Phoenix down for his team, potentially killing him before he can use his ultimate. Ogre's reliable stun is also great for interrupting Sun Ray from a safe distance. Phoenix's game plan is to stay on the fringes of the fight, poking and waiting for the right moment for a fight-turning Supernova. The outcome hinges on which support better executes their role: Ogre enabling a quick kill, or Phoenix controlling the entire teamfight.
