Ogre Magi vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Lining up a good Onslaught as Primal Beast feels risky when an Ogre Magi is on the other team. Ogre’s Fireblast provides a simple, reliable way to stop the charge in its tracks, turning a gank into a bad situation. The constant slow from Ignite also makes it difficult for Primal Beast to stick to targets or disengage after using his spells. Ogre's own high health pool means he isn't a fragile target either, and can often survive an initiation to turn the fight around with his stuns, especially if he gets a multicast.

This dynamic forces the Primal Beast to play more carefully throughout the mid-game. Ogre Magi can position himself to protect key allies, waiting to cancel the initiation. The game then shifts to Primal Beast’s Black King Bar timing. Once he can activate BKB, he can ignore Ogre's spells and get his full Pulverize combo off on a priority target. Until then, Primal Beast needs to find pickoffs on heroes who are out of Ogre's range, or try to bait out the Fireblast before committing to a teamfight.
