Ogre Magi vs Shadow Demon

How this matchup plays

Playing as Shadow Demon against an Ogre Magi feels like your best spells are turned off. Disruption is meant to save allies or set up kills with illusions, but Ogre’s own health pool is so large that illusions created from him are completely ineffective. It turns your signature save into a simple banishment that accomplishes little. On the other side of the coin, Ogre’s Fireblast is instant, so you can't dodge it with Disruption once he's in range. He's also naturally too tanky to be a good target for your team's burst, making him a frustrating frontliner who can ignore your setups.

This problem starts in the lane, where Ogre Magi can easily run at a squishy Shadow Demon and zone him out. Later on, Ogre's job is to enable a core with Bloodlust, and while Demonic Purge is a good answer to that buff, the issue is Ogre himself. He's always in your face, threatening to stun you or your carry with a lucky Multicast. Shadow Demon needs space and careful positioning to be effective, and Ogre Magi's whole game plan is about taking that away by walking at you and pressing his buttons.
