Ogre Magi vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Thinking that Treant Protector's high base damage and Living Armor will win the lane is a common trap. The constant damage-over-time from Ogre Magi's Ignite is a direct answer, quickly burning through the block instances and making Living Armor much less effective at mitigating harass. Ogre is also naturally tough enough to stand and trade hits, and his high armor helps against Treant's physical attacks. While Treant can still punch hard, Ogre’s kit makes it difficult for him to establish the lane dominance he often relies on. He can’t simply bully Ogre out.

Later in the game, Treant Protector looks for control with Overgrowth, but Ogre Magi is often tanky enough to survive the duration and then turn the fight. A lucky Multicast can stun multiple enemies who thought they had a clean initiation. On the other hand, Treant’s global presence from Living Armor and his ability to save allies from across the map keeps the game from getting out of hand. Treant has to focus more on his team and avoid direct confrontations, while Ogre has a slightly easier time running at people and starting fights.
