Omniknight vs Queen of Pain

How this matchup plays

Thinking Heavenly Grace counters Queen of Pain is a common trap. While dispelling Shadow Strike is useful, it doesn't stop her real threat. Most of her damage comes from Scream of Pain and Sonic Wave, neither of which a simple dispel can prevent. Omniknight's ultimate, Guardian Angel, also offers little protection since it only blocks physical damage, which Queen of Pain completely ignores. Her own ultimate cuts through it entirely, meaning she can often secure kills on targets that Omniknight thinks are safe.

This leaves both heroes in an awkward spot. Queen of Pain has the mobility and damage type to ignore Omniknight's entire kit, allowing her to Blink onto his backline and burst a target. However, Omniknight's job is often to sustain his carry through the fight, not to stop the initial burst. His strong dispel and heals can keep an ally fighting even after taking a Sonic Wave, buying enough time for them to turn and kill the now-exposed Queen of Pain. The matchup often hinges on whether her burst is faster than his save.
