Omniknight vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to winning a single teamfight, and these two heroes create a standoff. Tidehunter’s entire game plan revolves around landing a big Ravage to set up kills. Omniknight, however, directly counters the physical damage that's supposed to follow that stun with Guardian Angel. This creates a tense timing game. A successful fight for Tidehunter requires his team to have enough magical burst to eliminate a target during the Ravage stun itself, before physical immunity becomes a factor. Omniknight can also remove the powerful Gush debuff from an ally with Heavenly Grace, thwarting pick-off attempts.

The result is that teamfights are rarely decided by these two alone. Tidehunter and his team will try to find an angle to burst Omniknight down first, or force his hand before the main fight. Omniknight wants to stay back, ready to cast his spells and turn the engagement completely. In lane, Tidehunter can be a nuisance with Anchor Smash, but he struggles to kill a hero who can sustain himself. Since the outcome of their key interaction depends so much on the other heroes in the game, the matchup itself feels very balanced.
