Pangolier vs Clockwerk

How this matchup plays

A well-placed set of Power Cogs creates a significant problem for Pangolier’s mobile fighting style. Getting caught by a Hookshot and trapped inside the cogs takes away all of his space to maneuver. While he can sometimes escape with a well-timed Shield Crash over the barrier, the initial lockdown and damage from Battery Assault can create a fatal opening for Clockwerk’s team. This control also makes it much harder for Pangolier to get a good Rolling Thunder started, as he can be stunned and isolated before he has a chance to build momentum. Clockwerk's kit is built to stop a hero from moving, which is exactly what Pangolier needs to do to be effective.

This pressure follows Pangolier across the map, forcing him to play more cautiously and slowing his farm. He can’t safely split-push lanes or clear jungle camps if a Clockwerk is missing. In teamfights, the burden falls on Pangolier to bait out the Hookshot or wait for it to be used on an ally before he can safely commit. Clockwerk has a much simpler objective: find Pangolier and initiate the fight on his own terms. This initiative gives his team a slight but consistent advantage in setting up ganks and controlling teamfight positioning.
