Pangolier vs Ringmaster

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Pangolier is a frustrating task for Ringmaster. Most heroes that rely on placing traps or casting area-of-effect spells find it hard to lock down a target that can Swashbuckle through them or simply roll away. Pangolier can often farm aggressively, knowing he has the tools to escape a gank. For Ringmaster, landing a hypnotic pull or any form of crowd control requires perfect timing or a mistake from the Pangolier. This interaction works both ways; Pangolier struggles to fully commit for a kill because Ringmaster’s own bag of tricks can turn a fight, pulling him back into danger after he dives.

In teamfights, the duel becomes a waiting game. The Ringmaster player wants to hold his primary control spells specifically for Rolling Thunder, as interrupting the ability can completely shut down Pangolier's initiation. A smart Pangolier knows this and will often play on the fringes, baiting out abilities by threatening other targets before he commits. The fight is rarely decided by a direct one-on-one confrontation between them, but by which of them can force the other to act first and misuse a key cooldown on the wrong target.
