Pangolier vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a stun on Pangolier can feel like a waste of time. He can often Swashbuckle out of Burrowstrike's path or use Shield Crash to reduce its damage, making him a slippery target for Sand King's initiation. At the same time, a charging Epicenter is a very inviting target for Pangolier to simply roll into and cancel. The trade-off is that a well-timed Burrowstrike will stop Rolling Thunder cold, completely shutting down Pango's teamfight presence. Each hero has a direct and reliable answer to the other's most important spell, leading to a stalemate.

This standoff defines the matchup at all stages. In lane, they mostly ignore each other, as neither has the tools to secure a solo kill. Later on, teamfights turn into a game of chicken. Sand King wants to hold his stun for the roll, while Pangolier wants to wait until Burrowstrike is used on someone else before he commits. The result is that they both tend to avoid each other and focus on more vulnerable targets, neutralizing their direct impact on one another and leaving the game's outcome to their teammates.
