Pangolier vs Silencer

How this matchup plays

Struggling to build any kind of momentum on the map is the core of this matchup for Pangolier. His kit encourages casting multiple spells in quick succession, but this plays directly into Silencer's hands. Each use of Swashbuckle or Shield Crash while under Arcane Curse extends its duration and stacks up the damage. Worse, getting hit by Last Word means any attempt to escape with a spell will trigger the silence, leaving him completely vulnerable. This constant punishment makes it difficult for Pangolier to farm, trade effectively in lane, or join early fights without becoming a liability.

This dynamic only gets worse as the game progresses. A Pangolier's game often revolves around a big Rolling Thunder initiation, but Global Silence can stop that from ever happening. The threat of it forces him to play reactively and cautiously. He's often pushed into buying an early Black King Bar or other defensive items, delaying the damage items he needs to be a threat. Silencer, meanwhile, can comfortably sit back and wait for his moment, knowing he has a reliable answer to his opponent's biggest spell.
