Pangolier vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a kill on Pangolier is a frustrating experience for Sven. Pangolier’s kit is designed to dodge a single-target stun like Storm Hammer and survive burst with Shield Crash. Even if Sven connects, Pangolier's Lucky Shot can apply a disarm, directly countering the right-clicks from God's Strength. On the other hand, Sven’s Warcry provides his team with a lot of armor, which blunts the physical damage from Swashbuckle. This creates a standoff where neither hero has a clear advantage based on their core abilities.

The matchup often hinges on item timings. Pangolier is active much earlier and can disrupt Sven's farm, but a farmed Sven with a Black King Bar can ignore most of Pangolier's disruption. Fights become a game of positioning. Sven wants to find an opening to blink in with his ultimate, while Pangolier uses Swashbuckle and Rolling Thunder to kite him and protect his own backline. If Sven can't secure a kill during his BKB, Pangolier's sustained control can become a real problem.
