Pangolier vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Swashbuckling onto a Techies who has Reactive Tazer ready is a disaster for Pangolier. The instant disarm completely negates his primary damage combo and any on-hit effects he’s relying on. This fundamental interaction makes direct aggression almost impossible. Beyond that, Pangolier’s entire kit is based on predictable, high-speed movement. Swashbuckle dashes and Rolling Thunder paths are easy for Techies to anticipate with Proximity Mines. Once Pangolier commits to a roll or a dash, he often can't avoid running over a trap that was placed in his expected path.

This dynamic forces Pangolier to play cautiously from the start, ceding map control. Techies can effectively zone him out of fights before they even begin by mining common entry points. Even if Pangolier finds a way in, Techies can use Blast Off! as a follow-up silence, preventing the use of Shield Crash or another Swashbuckle to escape. For the Pangolier player, the game becomes a stressful exercise in buying detection and hoping the Techies makes a mistake, because all of Techies’ core abilities directly punish what Pangolier wants to do.
