Pangolier vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Trying to run down a Pangolier as Ursa is often a frustrating experience. Pangolier can use Swashbuckle to create instant distance, forcing Ursa to re-engage and letting Fury Swipes stacks fall off. Even if Ursa does close the gap, Shield Crash reduces incoming attack damage, making it much harder to secure a quick kill. Rolling Thunder also serves as a near-perfect escape mechanism, completely resetting any gank attempt. However, this interaction isn't one-sided. If Pangolier is caught on cooldown or silenced, he has very little base survivability and will fall quickly to Ursa’s focused damage.

The matchup often revolves around which hero gets the jump. Ursa players will look for timings where Pangolier has used his spells aggressively, then try to punish with a blink and a slow from Earthshock. A well-timed Enrage can also absorb the initial burst from a Rolling Thunder initiation. On the other side, a good Pangolier avoids being the primary target, instead using his mobility to kite Ursa and disrupt his team. Success for either hero depends heavily on itemization choices and which one can better control the engagement, making the outcome feel dependent on execution.
