Pangolier vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to control a teamfight with Rolling Thunder is incredibly difficult when Vengeful Spirit is on the other team. Her Nether Swap is a direct, hard answer, instantly yanking Pangolier out of his ultimate and often into the worst possible position with no way to escape. Since Swap pierces spell immunity, there's nothing he can do to prevent it. Even when he isn't rolling, Vengeful Spirit has an easy, point-and-click stun with Magic Missile to lock him down before he can Swashbuckle away. She simply has reliable tools to negate everything Pangolier wants to do.

This interaction forces the Pangolier to play scared for most of the game. Instead of initiating, he has to wait for Vengeful Spirit to use her ultimate on someone else, which gives her team a massive advantage in controlling the fight's tempo. A common response is to build a Linken's Sphere, but this significantly delays Pangolier's core items and damage. For the Vengeful Spirit player, the plan is simple: stay in a safe position and hold Nether Swap for the moment Pangolier commits. His biggest spell becomes her team's biggest opportunity.
