Pangolier vs Weaver

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down either of these heroes feels like a waste of time. Both Pangolier and Weaver are defined by their mobility and defensive abilities, which unfortunately for them, don't interact well. Pangolier's Rolling Thunder is a great teamfight tool, but a decent Weaver can often use Shukuchi to dodge the initial impact or simply Time Lapse the stun and damage away. In return, Weaver's sustained physical damage is less effective against Pangolier’s Shield Crash, which provides a significant damage barrier. They both have the tools to disengage from one another very easily.

This leads to a weird stalemate across the map. Pangolier would rather use his ultimate on a less mobile support, and Weaver doesn't want to waste his attacks on a target who can reduce the damage and then roll away to safety. The matchup usually comes down to which hero’s team has better lockdown to enable their slippery core. Since neither can reliably kill the other on their own, they end up playing their own separate games on opposite sides of a teamfight. The winner is often decided by which hero has a bigger impact on the other four players on the enemy team.
