Phoenix vs Undying

How this matchup plays

Trying to kill the Supernova egg becomes much harder when Phoenix lands Fire Spirits on the attackers. The significant attack speed slow buys crucial time for the ultimate to complete, often ensuring the stun goes off. This gives Phoenix a solid way to turn a fight around, even when Undying's team commits. Against Undying specifically, Sun Ray can be quite effective, burning through the large health pool he builds up from spamming Decay on your allies. Phoenix isn't helpless against Undying's brand of slow, grinding teamfight.

On the other side, Undying's whole plan is to overwhelm heroes before they can use their big spells. A well-placed Tombstone can swarm and slow Phoenix, making it easy for the enemy team to burst him down before he can use his ultimate. Consistent Decay hits make Phoenix extremely fragile, and the damage amplification from Flesh Golem makes destroying the egg much easier for Undying's allies if it does come out. The matchup often hinges on timing and which hero has the better position to enable their team.
