Getting charged out of the fog by a Primal Beast is a death sentence for most supports, but Skywrath Mage has the tools to fight back. The whole matchup revolves around whether Primal Beast can successfully initiate. A well-timed Ancient Seal from Skywrath Mage prevents Primal from using his charge or his ultimate, turning the monster into a simple brawler who can be kited. The silence also amplifies all incoming magic damage, making Primal Beast surprisingly fragile if he's caught out of position. The threat is a two-way street; if Primal gets his Pulverize off, Skywrath is helpless.

This dynamic creates a constant cat-and-mouse game. In lane, Skywrath Mage can often bully with his low-cooldown spells, but a single misstep can be fatal. Later on, teamfights often hinge on vision and initiation. If Primal Beast can get a jump from the trees with a Black King Bar, he can ignore the silence and run straight for his target. In response, a Skywrath with a Force Staff or other defensive items can create the space he needs to survive the initial onslaught and turn the fight around.
