Primal Beast vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Charging into a fight as Primal Beast feels risky when a Techies is on the other team. Your main goal is to run at targets with Trample and Onslaught, but Techies litters the map with Proximity Mines that can stop you cold. A well-placed minefield can completely deny your initiation or break your channel. In return, Techies has to be wary of your raw strength. If you survive the initial mine traps and get on top of him, he has few ways to escape your Pulverize combo and will die almost instantly.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and item choices. Techies wants to force fights in areas he has prepared with mines, using his Sticky Bombs to slow your approach. Primal Beast, on the other hand, wants to get the jump from the fog of war, ideally with an item like a Blink Dagger or a Black King Bar. Once Primal has BKB, he can ignore the worst of Techies' control and run him down. It's a constant back-and-forth between Techies' map control and Primal Beast's brute force initiation.
