Puck vs Queen of Pain

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on Queen of Pain feels like a losing proposition against a good Puck. So much of QoP’s damage comes from Scream of Pain and Sonic Wave, both of which can be completely avoided by a well-timed Phase Shift. If you do survive Puck's initial assault, the follow-up Waning Rift silence often means you can't use Blink to get away. Puck has the perfect tools to both dodge your aggression and lock you down for a kill, disrupting the in-and-out pattern Queen of Pain relies on.

This dynamic gives Puck the initiative for most of the game. While the laning phase can be a fairly even trade of spells, Puck's control scales better into teamfights. A single Dream Coil can be a death sentence for Queen of Pain, forcing her to play from much farther back than she'd like. QoP ends up having to wait for Puck to commit spells on someone else before she can safely join a fight, which often means she’s a step behind. Puck gets to set the tempo, and that creates a small but consistent advantage.
