How this matchup plays

Catching Puck with Burrowstrike feels like it should be a guaranteed kill, but it's rarely that simple. A well-timed Phase Shift can dodge the stun entirely, and even if it connects, Puck can often use Illusory Orb to escape before the full Epicenter combo lands. The entire interaction comes down to reflexes. On the other side, Puck’s Waning Rift provides a silence that can stop Sand King from channeling his ultimate or getting a second spell off, turning a potential gank into a failed attempt. Both heroes have the exact tool needed to disrupt the other's main plan.

This dynamic creates a standoff across the whole game. Sand King is often forced to buy a Blink Dagger simply to close the gap fast enough to prevent Puck from reacting. In teamfights, Puck will play on the edges, trying to bait out Burrowstrike on a different target before committing. The fight often comes down to which player can force the other to use their big cooldown first. Success here isn't about one hero being stronger, but about which player can better anticipate and outmaneuver the other's initiation.
