Puck vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by Slardar is a nightmare for a hero like Puck. Corrosive Haze is the core of the problem, as the vision it provides completely removes Puck’s ability to juke and escape through trees. The armor reduction also makes Puck incredibly fragile to Slardar's physical attacks and anyone else hitting them. On top of that, Slithereen Crush is a large, instant stun. Unlike a slow projectile, Puck has almost no time to react with Phase Shift, making it an extremely reliable way to lock the fairy dragon down for the kill.

This dynamic defines the mid-game. As soon as Slardar gets his Blink Dagger, Puck can no longer safely split push or farm aggressively. The constant threat of a Blink-Crush initiation forces Puck into a much more defensive posture, often needing a Linken's Sphere or similar item early on. Even then, Slardar can simply run past the frontline with Guardian Sprint and Black King Bar to find his target. Puck is constantly reacting to Slardar's aggression, unable to control the tempo of the game in the way they normally would.
