Pudge vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Getting hooked as Wraith King often feels more like a free ride than a death sentence. Pudge’s entire ganking pattern relies on using Meat Hook and Dismember to isolate and burst down a single hero. Against Wraith King, this entire sequence is fundamentally broken by Reincarnation. Pudge can land a perfect combo, expend his longest cooldowns, and succeed in getting the kill, only for his target to stand right back up. This not only wastes Pudge's initiation but also puts him in a terrible position for the counter-attack.

This core interaction shapes the whole game. Pudge is forced to play around Wraith King, trying to find a different, more fragile target. This is harder than it sounds, as Wraith King will often be the one leading the charge and making himself an easy target for hooks. A smart Wraith King can use this to his advantage, baiting out Pudge’s spells or deliberately standing in front of his supports to body-block. While Pudge is forced into a more passive role, trying to find the perfect angle on a backline hero, Wraith King is free to push objectives and control the map, knowing the enemy's main ganker can’t touch him.
