Pudge vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down Slark with the classic Pudge combo is a real test of timing. Even if a Meat Hook lands, Slark can often use Pounce to immediately leap to safety before Pudge can close the distance. The powerful slow from Rot that usually secures a kill is also easily dispelled by Slark's Dark Pact, letting him simply walk away. This puts immense pressure on the Pudge player to have perfect execution. To secure a kill, he often needs to land the hook and instantly follow up with Dismember, giving Slark no window to escape.

This dynamic creates a standoff throughout the game. Pudge’s ganks are less effective against a self-sufficient Slark, who can easily survive being caught out of position. In teamfights, it's a duel of patience. Slark has to respect the instant lockdown of Dismember, as Pudge can survive his initial burst and turn the fight. Pudge, in turn, knows that a missed hook on Slark can mean his own backline gets jumped. The outcome usually depends on which player gets impatient first or has better team support to follow up on their initiation.
