Pudge vs Vengeful Spirit

Playing for map control often relies on spreading out to farm, which is exactly what a Pudge wants to punish. Vengeful Spirit makes this difficult for him. Her ability to instantly save a hooked or Dismembered ally with Nether Swap completely negates Pudge's main contribution to a fight. He thrives on creating a numbers advantage by picking someone off, but Vengeful Spirit can turn his perfect initiation into a bad trade by swapping Pudge himself into danger. A long-range Magic Missile also provides another simple way to cancel his ultimate.

This interaction makes it tough for Pudge to get his game going. Early ganks that would normally lead to a snowball are often nullified, allowing Vengeful Spirit’s cores to farm safely. Pudge is forced to play with hesitation, either having to catch Vengeful Spirit first or waiting to see if Nether Swap is on cooldown before he can make a play. This window of safety lets her team group up and take objectives, forcing the Pudge to react to them rather than setting the tempo himself.
