Queen of Pain vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Thinking Queen of Pain can always Blink away from Epicenter misses the point. The matchup is really about who gets the jump. While QoP's Blink is a great escape, it's useless if she's caught by a surprise Burrowstrike from fog. Sand King can't just walk up and channel his ultimate, though; Queen of Pain will see it and simply leave. This creates a cat-and-mouse game where neither hero can reliably force a solo engagement. Sand King’s Sand Storm can obscure his position, but her Scream of Pain can still damage him inside it, making a clean escape difficult for him too.

This standoff continues for the whole game. Sand King needs a Blink Dagger to have a real chance of catching Queen of Pain, turning it into a battle of reaction time. He wants to initiate on her, while she wants to wait for him to use his big spells on someone else before she commits. Fights often become a stalemate where neither wants to be the first to engage the other. Success usually depends on which player has better vision, prediction, and backup from their team, rather than on any inherent strength one hero has over the other.
