Clockwerk vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against an invisible hero is tricky, and Clockwerk feels this acutely. His game plan revolves around finding an isolated target with Hookshot, but Riki is rarely a valid target due to his permanent invisibility. Even when Clockwerk jumps on an ally, Riki can neutralize the initiation with Smoke Screen, silencing Clockwerk and leaving him stranded. Riki can also escape Power Cogs with a simple Blink Strike, turning Clockwerk's trap into a minor inconvenience. Tricks of the Trade further complicates things by letting him dodge the damage and stuns from Battery Assault.

A Riki who gets caught out of position can still be burst down, so the game becomes about vision control. Clockwerk is a natural carrier for a Gem of True Sight, and once he has one, Riki is forced to play much more cautiously. From that point on, Clockwerk tries to establish safe zones for his team to operate in, while Riki looks for openings on the edges of that vision. He'll often wait for Clockwerk to commit his Hookshot and then counter-initiate on the now-exposed back lines.
