Choosing one of these heroes to counter the other is a genuine gamble on execution. Clockwerk has the ideal kit for catching and killing a fragile caster like Skywrath Mage; a good Hookshot into Cogs is often a death sentence. The catch is that Clockwerk makes himself a predictable, stationary target when he commits. If Skywrath isn't the one caught, or if he survives the initial jump with help, he can instantly silence and burst Clockwerk down with Mystic Flare. The entire interaction revolves around who gets the drop on whom, and who they bring with them.

This dynamic creates a constant tension throughout the game. Clockwerk will be actively hunting the map, trying to find Skywrath out of position before a fight can properly start. In response, Skywrath must play cautiously from the back lines, relying on his team for vision and to act as a frontline.
