Clockwerk vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

The map control battle between these two often feels stalled. Clockwerk wants to secure tempo by finding solo kills with Hookshot, but Slardar is an especially frustrating first target. Guardian Sprint gives him the speed and phasing to simply walk out of Power Cogs, denying Clockwerk a clean kill. Even if caught without Sprint, a quick Slithereen Crush can create enough space for Slardar to reposition or escape. This constant threat of escape makes it hard for Clockwerk to find the early pickoffs he relies on to build a lead for his team.

Later in the game, the dynamic shifts. Clockwerk will often ignore Slardar as a primary target, preferring to use his initiation on more fragile back-line heroes. Slardar, however, actively wants to fight Clockwerk. Applying Corrosive Haze shreds Clockwerk's armor and turns him from a durable frontline presence into a vulnerable target. Fights often come down to which hero finds their preferred target first. Clockwerk looks for an isolated support, while Slardar waits for the chance to jump the Clockwerk and remove him from the fight immediately.
