Clockwerk vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Catching Tidehunter with Hookshot often feels like a waste. His Kraken Shell can shrug off the initial stun and makes it difficult for Battery Assault to keep him locked down. Even if Clockwerk successfully traps him in Power Cogs, Tidehunter is so durable that he can usually survive the duration and walk away, or even turn the fight. Clockwerk's entire initiation combo is designed to isolate and kill a single hero, but Tidehunter is one of the worst possible targets for that plan, making Clockwerk's primary job much harder.

A smart Clockwerk player will learn to avoid Tidehunter entirely, instead using mobility to find supports in the back lines. The matchup then becomes a positioning game. Clockwerk looks for openings on weaker heroes, while Tidehunter tries to stay near his own team to threaten a counter-initiation with Ravage if Clockwerk commits. The outcome often depends on which player can better enable their team's overall strategy, as the direct interaction between them is a stalemate. Neither hero invalidates the other's role, but they force each other to play more carefully.
