Riki vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other creates a real tug-of-war over who controls the fight's tempo. Riki can make Sven's life difficult by finding him while he farms, dropping a Smoke Screen to silence him and cause his attacks to miss. It's a great tool for isolating and controlling a single, powerful target. However, Sven's kit has answers. A well-timed Storm Hammer can lock Riki down for a kill, and Great Cleave can hit an invisible Riki or punish him inside Tricks of the Trade if other units are nearby.

The matchup often hinges on key item timings. An early-game Riki can seriously disrupt Sven's progress, but the game changes once Sven gets a Black King Bar. With spell immunity active, Sven can ignore Smoke Screen, shrug off the control, and simply run Riki down with his immense damage. It becomes a race: Riki tries to snowball before Sven can get his core items online, while Sven tries to survive the pressure and hit the timing where he becomes the bigger threat.
