Sand King vs Silencer

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a big Epicenter on multiple heroes is Sand King's entire purpose in a teamfight. Silencer ruins this plan from anywhere on the map with Global Silence, instantly canceling the channel and wasting the cooldown. Even for a simple Burrowstrike stun, Silencer's Last Word can trigger and silence Sand King before he can follow up with his ultimate or escape with Sand Storm. The entire sequence of spells Sand King relies on is fundamentally broken by Silencer’s kit, leaving him exposed and ineffective at the most critical moments.

This forces Sand King to play with extreme caution all game. He can't reliably initiate fights, which surrenders map control and tempo to Silencer's team. SK has to wait for Global Silence to be used on someone else, or build a Black King Bar much sooner than he'd like, slowing down his other core items. Meanwhile, Silencer and his team can confidently push objectives and take fights, knowing they have a definitive answer to the enemy's biggest teamfight threat. Sand King is relegated to catching lone targets or hoping the Silencer is already dead.
