Sand King vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by an Ursa is usually a death sentence, but Sand King is uniquely equipped to handle it. Ursa needs to stay on a target to stack Fury Swipes, and Sand King's entire kit is about preventing that. A quick Burrowstrike creates instant space, and Sand Storm forces Ursa to either retreat or have detection on hand. Even with Enrage active, Ursa often can't connect for long enough to secure the kill before Sand King escapes. On the other side, Sand King's magical damage isn't enough to burst a durable Ursa, leading to a stalemate where neither hero can reliably kill the other.

This creates a neutral interaction across the game. In teamfights, Sand King isn't trying to manfight Ursa; he's using his stuns and Epicenter to disrupt Ursa's attack on a more vulnerable ally. Likewise, a smart Ursa will often ignore Sand King in favor of a target he can actually pin down and kill. The matchup depends less on their direct interaction and more on which hero's team can better enable their plan. Ursa needs his team to provide lockdown, while Sand King needs his to capitalize on his chaotic initiation.
