Head-to-head Dota 2 7.41f win rate from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Techies wins the Shadow Demon vs Techies matchup: Techies beats Shadow Demon in 56.31% of 11,961 ranked matches.
Saving an ally with Disruption seems like the right call against Techies' explosives, but it often seals their fate. The moment Disruption ends, the two illusions it creates can instantly trigger any Proximity Mines they spawn near. This means the hero you tried to save is immediately hit by a full-damage mine with no time to react. The same danger exists for any offensive use of the spell. Shadow Demon effectively gives Techies free triggers for his minefield, turning his best defensive tool into a huge liability for his own team.
This problem makes taking objectives incredibly difficult. Techies will mine up every approach to a tower, and Shadow Demon is completely unable to create space or initiate safely. Any attempt to use Disruption for a pickoff risks putting the target right on top of a hidden mine stack. As the game goes on, Shadow Demon is forced to play far more passively, unable to use his core save ability. Techies gets to dictate the pace of the game, setting up defensive zones that Shadow Demon's team has almost no way to break.
