Drafting Treant Protector means you have to plan for a potential Wraith King counter-pick. Treant’s game revolves around locking down enemies with Overgrowth, allowing his team to focus and eliminate a key threat. This entire strategy is fundamentally broken by Wraith King. Committing a long-duration ultimate and other spells to kill his first life is a massive waste of resources when Reincarnation brings him back, ready to fight again. An ultimate that is supposed to secure a kill becomes a minor delay at best.

This dynamic puts the Treant Protector into a no-win situation during teamfights. Using Overgrowth on Wraith King feels pointless, but using it on his allies means the un-rooted king is free to walk up and tear through your own backline. The pressure is entirely on Treant's team to somehow coordinate killing Wraith King twice, while the WK player can confidently absorb the enemy's biggest control spell and trust his second life to clean up. It forces Treant to play a reactive, defensive game against a hero who is built to be proactive.
