Picking Skywrath Mage into an Undying often means committing to a specific game plan. The core problem is that Skywrath's single-target burst from Mystic Flare struggles against Undying's natural tankiness and team-wide sustain. A well-placed Tombstone is especially difficult for Skywrath to handle. He lacks the area damage to clear the zombies quickly, often forcing him to reposition or get swarmed while trying to cast his spells on a priority target. Undying's Soul Rip can also provide a clutch heal to save an ally from Skywrath's full combo, negating his main contribution to a fight.

This dynamic leads to a game of cat and mouse. Skywrath Mage will look for early pickoffs, using his silence to catch Undying or his allies out of position before a full teamfight can erupt.
