Slardar vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee hero who wants to run at the enemy always requires a second thought against Techies. Slardar’s entire plan revolves around closing the gap with Sprint and landing Slithereen Crush, but the path is rarely clear. Techies can easily stack Sticky Bombs on a charging Slardar, making him too slow to reach his target. Proximity Mines force him to either take damage or change his path, and a well-timed Blast Off can silence him right before he gets his stun off, completely ruining the initiation.

The matchup often comes down to item timings and vision control. Without a BKB, Slardar struggles to function in teamfights, as he's too vulnerable to the magical burst and control. Once he has one, he can ignore most of what Techies does, but only for a short window. Slardar’s goal becomes finding and bursting Techies before a fight properly begins, using Corrosive Haze to keep track of him. Techies, in turn, plays around his team, trying to stay out of sight and using his spells to peel for whichever ally Slardar jumps.
