How this matchup plays

Trying to land a kill when Undying is nearby is often a losing battle. His Decay saps strength, making even tanky heroes like Slardar feel fragile in a prolonged engagement. A well-placed Tombstone then clogs the fight, making it hard to chase or even connect attacks on a primary target, and Soul Rip can quickly negate a burst attempt. On the other hand, Slardar’s Corrosive Haze is devastating against Undying, who has naturally low armor. If Slardar can close the distance and get his stun off first, Undying evaporates before he can cause any real trouble.

The matchup often hinges entirely on who gets to set the terms of the fight. Slardar wants to use his mobility to get a clean initiation with his Blink Dagger, find a pick-off, and end the engagement quickly. Undying wants the exact opposite: a messy, drawn-out brawl centered on his Tombstone and Flesh Golem, where he can wear down the enemy team over time. The winner is usually the one who better anticipates the other's movements and forces the fight to happen on their own terms.
