Slardar vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Picking Ursa into a Slardar feels like a trap because Slardar's kit naturally dismantles Ursa's game plan. Ursa wants to run at a target and build up Fury Swipes stacks, but Slithereen Crush and constant bashes stop him from getting his attacks off. More importantly, Corrosive Haze completely strips away Ursa's armor, making him incredibly fragile to physical damage from Slardar and his team. Even if Ursa uses Enrage for the damage reduction, the negative armor makes him melt much faster than he normally would, undermining his main survival tool.

This dynamic forces Ursa to play defensively. He can't really man-fight a Slardar who has Haze available. Once Slardar has an initiation tool, he can hunt the Ursa across the map, and the reveal from Haze means there's no escape. Ursa is pressured into buying items like Black King Bar or Linken's Sphere much earlier than he'd like, slowing his own tempo. Meanwhile, Slardar builds his normal items and controls engagements, making it difficult for Ursa to find a safe window to get his damage out.
