Slardar vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map with pickoffs becomes incredibly difficult against a Vengeful Spirit. Slardar’s entire game plan revolves around isolating a target with Sprint or Blink Dagger, then using Slithereen Crush and Corrosive Haze to burst them down. Vengeful Spirit completely foils this with Nether Swap, instantly saving his chosen target and leaving Slardar dangerously out of position. Her own Magic Missile can stop his charge before it even connects, and Wave of Terror makes him an easy target to turn on if he’s caught. Her kit is almost perfectly designed to punish Slardar’s aggressive, single-target style.

This forces Slardar to play much more cautiously throughout the game. Instead of setting the tempo and creating space, his gank attempts are unreliable and risky. Vengeful Spirit allows her cores to farm more aggressively, knowing they have an instant escape from Slardar's initiation. For Slardar to be effective, he often needs to buy a Black King Bar very early or wait for Venge to use her ultimate on someone else. Otherwise, every attempt to make a play can backfire, turning his primary strength into a huge liability for his team.
