Slardar vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Facing a Slardar forces Viper out of his comfort zone. Viper’s typical durability comes from high magic resistance and kiting enemies with slows, but Slardar sidesteps this entire game plan. Corrosive Haze strips away armor, making Viper surprisingly fragile to physical attacks from Slardar and his team. A quick stun from Slithereen Crush is often enough to lock Viper in place, while Sprint lets Slardar close the initial gap and stick to his target. This combination of physical burst and lockdown neutralizes Viper’s main defensive tools.

The laning phase can be manageable or even favorable for Viper, especially if he can harass a melee Slardar from range. The matchup's balance often shifts once Slardar gets a Blink Dagger. With that key item, Slardar can initiate from the fog, apply his armor reduction, and help his team eliminate Viper before Viper's sustained damage becomes a factor in the fight.
