Slark vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Trying to control Slark with Leech Seed is often a losing battle for Treant Protector. Slark can purge the slow and damage with a quick Dark Pact, denying Treant a key part of his trading and setup potential. This makes laning against him difficult and reduces Treant's impact in early skirmishes. While Overgrowth still roots Slark, his natural survivability from Shadow Dance and the mobility from Pounce mean he can frequently escape the situation once the root ends. He is simply a harder target to pin down and kill than most heroes Treant wants to gank.

This dynamic forces Treant Protector to shift his focus. Instead of trying to lock down Slark directly, Treant often gets more value by using Overgrowth on Slark’s more vulnerable teammates to win the fight around him. A solo Treant is also prime food for a hunting Slark, who can easily build up Essence Shift stacks and secure a kill. The matchup leans in Slark's favor because he invalidates one of Treant's core spells and is slippery enough to mitigate his ultimate, but Treant can still find success by playing around him.
