Slark vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a vulnerable hero is Slark's main goal, but Vengeful Spirit directly counters that approach. A single Nether Swap can pull Slark's Pounce target to safety, leaving him overextended and alone. Alternatively, Venge can use the swap to pull Slark himself into a disastrous position when he thinks he's initiating a favorable fight. Her targeted stun and armor reduction also make it much easier for her team to lock down and finish him off once he's been exposed. It’s a fundamental disruption of how Slark wants to operate in teamfights.

This forces the Slark player to be much more deliberate. Instead of diving freely, he must respect Vengeful Spirit’s position and cooldowns, often having to target her first or wait for Swap to be used on someone else. A well-timed Dark Pact can still negate her stun, and a Black King Bar later on bypasses her control completely. Because Slark has ways to play around her abilities, Vengeful Spirit holds an advantage in controlling engagements, but it’s an edge that can be outplayed with good timing and target selection.
