Charging a full-health Tidehunter is often a waste of time. His Kraken Shell provides a strong dispel whenever he takes a certain amount of damage, which means the stun from Charge of Darkness is frequently removed the moment your team follows up on the impact. This allows Tidehunter to instantly retaliate with a Gush slow or a full Ravage to punish the attempt. Spirit Breaker depends on that initial lockdown to let his team pile on damage, but Kraken Shell completely disrupts the gank before it can even get started, turning a pickoff into a bad trade.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Spirit Breaker is forced to ignore Tidehunter as a primary target, effectively removing one of the enemy's most important heroes from his hit list. He must instead seek out kills on supports who are isolated from their durable offlaner. If Tidehunter is grouped with his team, charging anyone is a huge risk because he can easily save his allies and turn on you. This allows Tidehunter to farm more aggressively and position himself more boldly than other heroes could, knowing a solo charge from Spirit Breaker is rarely a credible threat.
