Spirit Breaker vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Picking Spirit Breaker into a Treant Protector often feels like a trade-off. On one hand, Treant is excellent at spoiling Spirit Breaker’s plans. A well-timed Living Armor can give a gank target enough health regeneration and armor to survive the initial impact of a Charge of Darkness, buying crucial seconds for help to arrive. On the other hand, Spirit Breaker’s Charge provides vision, making it difficult for Treant Protector to move through the trees unseen and set up his own ambushes or find the perfect Overgrowth.

This tension defines the matchup from start to finish. Early on, a smart Spirit Breaker will often avoid charging the lane Treant is babysitting, instead focusing on other parts of the map. In response, Treant Protector will try to shadow whichever core is most vulnerable. Later, teamfights can swing based on who acts first. If Spirit Breaker initiates on a bad target, Treant can lock him down with Overgrowth and turn the fight. But if Spirit Breaker can catch Treant himself, or another key hero out of position, the fight is often won before Living Armor can make a difference.
