How this matchup plays

Charging a lone Viper is a simple plan, and Spirit Breaker can execute it from anywhere on the map. Since Viper has no innate escape, he's a very inviting target for Charge of Darkness. Viper's defense comes from making the gank itself painful. Corrosive Skin damages and slows Spirit Breaker for connecting his Charge and using his ultimate. If the fight happens inside Nethertoxin, Spirit Breaker also loses his Greater Bash passive, which can make it harder to finish the kill. It becomes a race to see if the burst is enough before Viper's sustained damage and slows turn things around.

Across the game, Spirit Breaker can constantly pressure Viper, forcing him to play defensively and slowing his item progression. Viper's goal is to survive these ganks with items that let him stand his ground, daring Spirit Breaker to commit to a fight. While a farmed Viper can often win a one-on-one duel, Spirit Breaker's ability to choose when and where the fight starts gives his team the initiative. He forces Viper to react, and that consistent pressure is what creates this small advantage.
