Sven vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Running at the back lines with God's Strength active becomes a frustrating experience against a Techies. Sven relies on connecting with targets during his ultimate, but Techies excels at preventing that. Sticky Bombs constantly slow him down, making it hard to stay on a target even with Warcry's speed. More importantly, Reactive Tazer can disarm Sven right through his Black King Bar, completely wasting a huge chunk of his ultimate's duration. Proximity Mines also make it dangerous for Sven to farm the jungle or split-push, slowing down the item timings he needs to come online and end the game.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and initiation. A Sven with a Blink Dagger can try to jump directly on Techies and burst him down before he can react. However, the Techies player’s goal is to make this as difficult as possible, creating a field of control that protects his own team. This forces Sven to play cautiously and path reactively, giving the initiative to the Techies' side. While Sven can eventually power through with enough farm and the right items, Techies consistently makes his job of closing the distance and dealing damage much harder than usual.
