Sven vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Fighting into Sven's team as Ursa can be frustrating because of Warcry. The massive armor boost for Sven and his allies directly mitigates the physical damage from Fury Swipes. Even as the stacks build up, the damage they deal is significantly reduced, forcing Ursa to stay on a target for much longer than he'd like. This gives Sven and his team time to react. On top of that, Sven’s Storm Hammer is a reliable stun to interrupt Ursa’s Overpower attacks or to help kite him once Enrage is activated. Sven simply has the basic tools to stand his ground against Ursa's physical burst.

This dynamic means Sven can often win a head-to-head fight once he has a few items and levels. With God's Strength active, Sven hits hard enough to threaten Ursa even through Enrage's damage reduction, especially since Ursa doesn't build much armor himself. Ursa’s best chance is to catch Sven during his cooldowns or jump him from invisibility with an item like a Blink Dagger or Abyssal Blade before he can react. If Sven gets his abilities off first, he can usually protect himself and his team long enough to turn the fight and cleave Ursa down.
