Techies vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other feels like a statement of intent for the whole team. Tidehunter isn't worried about Techies personally, because Kraken Shell lets him shrug off the slows from Sticky Bombs and tank initial mine explosions. This allows him to act as a human minesweeper, walking ahead of his team to give vision and clear traps. On the other hand, Techies isn't trying to kill Tidehunter. The goal is to use the threat of mines and Blast Off! to control space and blow up the squishier heroes playing behind their durable front-liner.

The game often comes down to patience and team coordination. If Tidehunter's team stays grouped and lets him lead, they can systematically push through Techies' defenses. However, a well-placed mine stack can instantly delete a support who gets separated, turning the fight before it starts. The silence from Blast Off! can also be surprisingly effective at preventing a key Ravage from being cast. Success for either hero depends less on their direct interaction and more on which of them can better enable their team to execute its plan.
